Christmas tis the season to be jolly but for many of us it’s one the busiest times of year with parties to attend (or plan) and a truckload of presents to buy. Finding time to organise anything for yourself can seem daunting so WY? asked Myer Ambassador and Channel 9 Presenter, Lauren Phillips to share her top five tips that will help you survive all the fun festivities to come…

Enlist help – If you’re planning to host a party this holiday season, don’t bite off more than you can chew. If you don’t have time to make 200 chicken sandwiches then enlist people who can. I host an annual Christmas party and can’t go past Bright Young Things to sort out all of my party needs. The team is great to work with and incredibly creative. For something sweet I absolutely love the Christmas inspired cupcakes at The Cupcake Queens – you can’t host a Christmas party without treats!

Mix and match – With so many parties and celebrations to attend finding yet another outfit to wear becomes tiresome.  To avoid outfit repeating or blowing your budget on a new dress every time, buy three key staple items that can be rehashed and reworked to create new looks. Manning Cartell has some beautiful white skirts this season – a colour that I love to wear over summer and can be easily teamed with this seasons key fashion trends such as monochrome and pastels. sass & bide have some great silk tops across a range of seasonal colours – a classic staple piece for any wardrobe and perfect for a more casual Christmas soiree. A statement blazer in a bright colour or with an eye-catching texture is sure to dress up any outfit.  The Yeojin Bae cobalt tuxedo jacket is the perfect bright blazer for the festive season.

Magic makeupBetween marathon shopping, decorating trees and Christmas party galore it can be tough to maintain a fresh faced look from day until night. But with the right makeup products in your handbag it’s easy to retouch on the go and give yourself a lift for your next event. My tried and tested products include: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation for a beautiful glow, Napoleon Perdis lipstick for a bold lip that will last hours, Illamasqua mascara to ensure your lashes stay full the whole night through and OPI nail polish to maintain a perfect manicured look.

Break a sweat – Between work, your social life, family and well, more work at this time of year exercise can often fall by the wayside. But whatever you do, don’t let it go! Even if it means getting up earlier to squeeze in a quick morning workout you are guaranteed to enjoy your festive celebrations far more if you’ve earned that second glass of bubbles at a mid-week function. I love to do an early boxing class at Acumotum in Prahran to get myself ready for the day. Group classes are a great way to stay fit and social over the Christmas period.

Happy HairLet’s face it, all girls (and guys) feel better after a visit to the hairdresser so treat yourself this festive season with a trip to the salon to mix up your look. Whether it’s a simple trim, a quick blow dry, or a funky new do anything out of the ordinary will have you party-ready.
