What are your top three health rules to live by?
Eat real, minimally processed food, exercise as much as you can, and spend time with family and friends (for stress relief and happiness).
You’re involved with NuYu and helped develop the company’s eating plans. Can you tell us a bit more about this?
I came into contact with NuYu while working on a TV reality show. We sent a couple of our participants there and I was impressed with what it offered. I stayed in touch with the owners and subsequently helped them redesign their menus. I think it’s a fantastic service and can really make a difference in people’s lives.
Carbs, low fat, high fat, high protein, Atkins… Is there one correct formula?
It’s so confusing and that’s part of the problem! It needn’t be – just eat real food. Limit the amount of processed food you consume and make more food yourself, using fresh ingredients. If you do that while making the right lifestyle changes (exercise, stress management and adequate sound sleep), you’ll get good long-term results.
What are your three top tips to avoiding weight gain?
Keep moving every day, stick to three meals a day and limit snacking. Oh, and don’t hide under jumpers – it’s good to be aware when you are gaining weight and do something about it.
What’s your favourite new fitness or health product?
Loving my new Garmin – tracks the distance and pace of all my runs, cycles and swims.
For busy women out there, any secret helpers you recommend?
I tried Dietlicious home-delivered meals recently from the Gourmet Dinner Service. They were fabulous! I like that you can order a few meals for your freezer and not have to have every meal delivered. Great adjunct to a healthy diet.
