Home is…
Fitzroy, Melbourne

 What do you do?
I am the co-founder of Social Media Servants.

Irrational fear of….
The word ‘moist’.

What talent would you most like to have and why?
To be musically gifted. I would have been a brilliant rockstar…If only I could hold a tune or play an instrument.

Should all SME’s have a social strategy? If yes, why? If no, why not?
Absolutely. Like it or not social media is how we connect and interact. If you don’t have social media you don’t exist in the mind of consumers and you’re missing the chance to build your own loyal community. Having said that, if you don’t plan strategically, you’re missing the daily opportunity to engage this community of brand-friends.

What’s the biggest social media blunder to avoid and why?
Thinking that sales is the only end point. Social media is developed for the community, sales is an end point for business, not the consumer. Today, the most successful brands and businesses have their #1 digital focus on engagement. They see how this metric positively affects all others (including brand awareness, brand understanding and, of course, sales).

If you could only use one social media platform, what would it be and why?
I can’t pick one! (But I will keep it short)
Instagram – It is simple to use, great to find and ‘connect’ with other people and brilliant to ‘stalk’ people on. Plus, it’s owned by Facebook. (Always back a winner!)
Google+ – Visually it is beautiful. Usability is great (easy to find and share information) and we all know that Google runs the world. Get on this now and reap the rewards in the future.
Snapchat - I have a circle of ten close friends scattered across the world and this is our way of sharing what we’re doing and simply checking in. The fact that they have added filters to make us look tanned is a bonus.

Your top three apps to download and why?
– An oldie but a goodie. I love music, but I don’t know artists names. Shazam keeps my future Spotify tracks in a helpful list.
Net-A-Porter & The Outnet – Allows me to shop on the tram. Can’t get much easier than that.
The social media monitoring platforms we use to look after clients – Allows me to check in with my team and our clients’ no matter where I am.

In my spare time I like to….
Attempt yoga, sit on Tumblr and Pintrest, read and clean.

You’re packing for a holiday on a desert island but can only bring four things. What would they be and why?
Invisible Zinc Sunscreen – It’s important to stay sun smart!
Brett Easton Ellis novels – great reading and fights off boredom
iPad and wifi (count as one) – must stay ‘connected’ (and update Instagram with photos of my feet on the sand #soblessed)
My boyfriend – because I’ll get in trouble if I don’t say I’d take him

  • We hear you’ve been seeing the same masseuse for years. Who’s Your Massage Therapist?
  • 7 years and counting. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for a massage as it would just be disappointing in comparison to the work by Heidi.
