Home is… Vaucluse, Sydney

Can’t leave the house without…a healthy snack! Whether it’s a homemade protein bar, bliss balls or trail mix, I always like to have something healthy on hand to keep my blood sugar stable.

Favourite hour of the day and why? I wake up at 6:30, and that first hour is so important to set the tone of my day. I start with warm lemon water to fire up my digestion and detoxify my body after a good night’s sleep, and then sit in quiet meditation. Sometimes I put my legs up the wall, sometimes I write in my gratitude journal. But that “me time” is something I need to stay centered.

Favourite place to exercise in Sydney? Dharma Shala Bondi Yoga School – they have the best yoga sessions. I also love the Bondi Promenade and jogging around my own neighbourhood.

Your signature look is… comfortable but polished. I prefer a natural look – though I love an opportunity to get dressed up!

You’ve just released your e-book, The Clean Life. What’s the first step people can take to creating a healthier lifestyle? Take one step at a time! If you try to overhaul your life all at once, you’ll get overwhelmed and frustrated. Be kind to yourself and make the commitment each day to live a clean life.

Favourite holiday destination and why? Thailand. It is so stunningly peaceful. In fact, I love Thailand so much I want to get married there.

Top three tips for staying healthy while travelling…
1. Get plenty of rest. A rested body is a healthy body, especially when it’s on the move. Bring lavender oil and a sleep mask to help induce sleep naturally.
2. Take your vitamins. I always bring vitamin C to keep my immune system strong, a vitamin B complex and spirulina for energy, and a probiotic to keep digestion strong.
3. Do your research. Seek out healthy restaurants and fun activities. A healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean boring – in fact, it’s really exciting to find unique spots when you’re traveling.

Beauty product you can’t live without? Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. It’s loaded with sunflower and coconut oil (a miracle ingredient in the kitchen and on our skin!) and is full of vitamins and fatty acids to soothe and soften lips. It’s simple and subtle, which means that it’s also snagged by my guy on a regular basis! 

Your last meal would be… Soft shoulder of lamb with roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts (perfectly cooked) + a rocket and Parmesan salad. My absolute favourite meal. And it wouldn’t be complete without dessert: an apple crumble with cinnamon ice cream. Can you tell I’ve thought about this? 

Must-have kitchen appliance? My food processor! I use it at least once a day, whether it’s for a protein smoothie in the morning, to make bliss balls as a snack, or cauliflower “rice” for dinner. It allows me to create incredibly flavourful, versatile dishes.

Favourite workout outfit pieces for style and comfort? Lululemon running tights + a black singlet + a Lorna Jane running jacket or a Lululemon vest + Nike runners.

What’s next for Jessica Sepel? I am thrilled to have released my first full-length eBook! My hope is that it will be the first of many books to come as I gain further knowledge and insight working with clients in my nutrition practice. I also have dreams of starting an active wear brand.
