LAURA DUNDOVIC

Myer Ambassador, face of Skin Doctors and host of Fox 8′s Dating In The Dark
After a short stint on Home and Away in her teenage years, Laura Dundovic went on to become the 2008 winner of Miss Universe Australia, and was placed in the top 10 of the international competition. Dundovic has remained a prominent Australian media personality, and her work has included modeling for Steve Madden, MYER, and Charlie Brown, and now as the host of reality TV show ‘Dating in the Dark’.

Home is…?
Sydney

What do you do?
Myer Ambassador, face of Skin Doctors and host of Fox 8′s Dating In The Dark.

You’re an expert in…
Hair and makeup. I’ve been modeling since I was 16 and have always paid close attention to what they do. I do my own grooming for most events these days.

What’s the most interesting place you’ve travelled to and why?
Ningaloo in northern WA. It has so many amazing beaches – one with red sand and white the next. It also has the most incredible marine life like whale sharks and dugongs. I went scuba diving up there and was blown away.

What’s on your bedside table?
A Himalayan salt lamp. When lit, it ionises the air and gives my room a beautiful pinky orange tone.

How do you stay healthy while travelling?
I love running – especially on soft sand. I pack all my own snacks, such as almonds or goji berries, so I have healthy options to keep me going through the day. I also always wear Skin Doctors Skinactive Day Cream SPF 30+.

What’s the best beauty tip you’ve ever heard?
Always wash your makeup off before bed! It’s so important to make sure you give your face a chance to breathe.

What beauty products do you use religiously?

Skinactive 14 Day and Night: packed with benefits such as anti-ageing (best to start early!), moisturising, sunscreen… the list goes on.

Skin Doctors Rapid Peel: an amazing pick-me-up when my skin looks tired and dull.

My Curl: an amazing hair clip that you use in conjunction with a straightener to create incredible curls. So easy to use and only takes minutes!

You suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. How has this changed the way you treat your body?
I sleep a lot more! I am also a lot more aware of little changes in my body and jump on them pretty quickly. I now follow the Eat Right For Your Blood Type plan as that helps. I also exercise three times a week – even though it’s hard on the day, I always feel better afterwards. I love Pilates and yoga especially – they’re also a great way to stretch after swimming and running!

Can you recommend a practitioner who specialises in the condition?
I like to keep things as natural as possible so I think anyone with immune or fatigue issues should see a naturopath, dietitian or acupuncturist first.

What are your top three health rules to live by?

1. Drink lots of water.

2. Move it! Exercise regularly and on the days you don’t, walk instead of catching a cab and take the stairs rather than the lift.

3. Eat clean! You can do so much with fresh vegies and you’ll get all the vitamins and minerals you need!

You practice Bikram yoga. Any tips for first-timers?
First time you will hate it, second time you will hate it even more. Third time you will find it bearable and by the fourth time you will love it. Persist, leave your worries outside and push yourself. It’s amazing for the body and the mind!

  • PEOPLE TALK ABOUT YOUR AMAZING BODY. WHO'S YOUR PERSONAL TRAINER?
  • I train with Neil Russell. He ran the City to Surf with me last year but this time is having a 'serious attempt' at it. Haha. I was feeling like a bit of an athlete until then.
