New York City
What do you do?
I am a TV host, entertainment reporter, writer and producer
You’re an expert in…
Music and (rather oddly) criminal psychology
You’re passionate about…
Human and animal rights, music, cooking, travel….the list could go on for days! I am a very passionate person!
What’s your mantra?
If you give in to your detractors, you may as well give up! Belief in yourself is the most important thing there is. If you don’t believe in you, you can’t expect anyone else to.
You’ve recently moved back to NYC from Sydney. Tell us about that…
Packing up my entire life and moving back to New York was by far the most terrifying yet brave and fulfilling thing I have ever done. I literally just sold everything I owned and jumped on a plane. Now life has never been sweeter. I believe in taking risks, and if they don’t work out you will have learned something about yourself in the process.
You are known for your glam red carpet style. Who’s your fave designer? How to choose…? Collette Dinnigan, Rachel Gilbert, sass and bide, Zimmerman, Alice + Olivia, Bowie, Nicola Finetti, This Is Genevieve, Hussy, Maurie and Eve, Bec and Bridge, Alex Perry… again – I could go on forever!!
You are exposed to music and new bands every day through work. Any particular upcoming musician you’re really gunning for?
Lauriel Rothberg, she’s so young (only 17!) but so talented! She went in for one meeting with Warner Music in LA and came out with a deal based off one song – I think we can expect big things from her!
Tell us your ultimate track for:
• A lazy day at home: Kaskade “Everything”
• Singing in the shower: Cee Lo Green “Forget You”
• Getting ready to go out: Pitbull feat. Neyo, Afrojack and Nayer “Give Me Everything”
• A roadtrip: Stevie Wonder “Superstition”
You’re known for throwing fab dinner parties. What’s your go-to dish to impress?
I love to mix it up. I had a dinner party recently where I served grilled Moroccan chicken with a Greek quinoa salad, steamed asparagus and broccolini rabe. I also love making organic herb-encrusted Atlantic salmon with a lentil side salad – cooking is so therapeutic to me!
What other essentials make a dinner party a success?
Table presentation is very important. I love to decorate the table so my friends feel they are walking into a special occasion or restaurant, and choosing the right wine is a must!
Who’s your secret to keeping in shape?
I recommend the Dukan diet. It really works for me but the first week is tough. Eating pure protein gets boring but you see results quickly. It’s not an extreme diet where you are surviving on soup or juice – you’re never hungry and the results are worth missing out on your favourite pasta for a few weeks!
