What do you do?
The Change Room Foods (TCRF) offers its customers healthy snacks that are free from gluten and refined sugar. Nourishing, wholesome ingredients are used to create “fit foods” that not only do no harm, but actually do you good. Private customers can have their orders delivered to their workplace or home, while stockists receive their goodies on a weekly basis.

What lead you to create The Change Room Foods?’
TCRF was created out of necessity. Ever since I was a child, I have always been a fan of healthy eating and exercise, especially foods that help to achieve, as well as maintain, fitness and wellbeing. However, a number of years ago, when I discovered that I was gluten- intolerant (as well as moderately lactose- intolerant) I was dismayed to find that the vast majority of commercially- available “fit foods” contained ingredients that I could not consume. Worse, upon closer inspection, I found that most contained ingredients I would rather not consume.

I began to experiment with whole foods in my own kitchen, and it was then that the idea struck me – truly healthy food needed to become more readily available. People needed to learn more about what it meant to be truly healthy, and how easy it was. Change was necessary – and so The Change Room was born.

What does ‘health’ mean to you?
I have a holistic view of what it means to be truly healthy. To me, true health is embodied by a balance of physical, mental and emotional health. The three co- exist and affect one another. Eating well and being physically active are wonderful, but form only a small part of what it means to be healthy.

If you could prepare your delicious, gluten- free treats and snacks for anyone (dead or alive), who would it be? Why, and what would you make?
So many people inspire me, and I have learned so much from so many different people – but if I had to name just one person, I would have to say Lorna Jane. She is all about living an active life – moving, nourishing and believing every day to achieve optimum health and happiness. She encourages fitness, the consumption of nourishing wholefoods, rest, relaxation, a healthy dose of ambition and a lot of self- faith.

*Since completing her questionnaire, Mandy has fulfilled this dream. Change Room Foods were the official birthday cake maker for Lorna Jane Active’s 25th anniversary this year. Mandy also met (and fed!) Lorna herself.

Best piece of advice?
“Anything worth doing, is worth doing right.” – Hunter S Thompson.

My interpretation of this is; whether you are working, resting or playing, be present and do it wholeheartedly.

How do you de-stress and relax?
Working seven days a week every week definitely demands relaxation. To manage my stress levels, I usually exercise. Running outdoors, doing some resistance work and practicing yoga always help to provide oxygen and clarity to my mind. I also meditate on occasion, love to light scented candles, drink herbal tea and (when time permits) visit day spas.

What’s next?
The Change Room Foods website is currently under construction – the space will act as a hub to inspire healthy eating and active living. Additionally, we hope to open our first store in the second half of the year, reintroduce private customer orders (with a twist!) and create a facility that will provide us with greater event catering power, as well as launching our exciting new range of meals. Longer term, we aim to grow nationally and will strive to work with like- minded businesses who also wish to see Australians thrive with good health and well being.

  • We love how healthy your hair looks, who’s your hairdresser?
  • Many people ask me about my hair – I had it short and in a bob for a long time, and nothing and nobody could help it grow. Ever since I started visiting Bridgett, my hair has simply flourished! Additionally, she is just gorgeous and such a lovely person.
