At WY?, we’re all for quality over quantity – especially when it comes to fashion. Investing in high-quality, classic pieces that will last you a lifetime is beneficial in the long run for not only your wallet, but also the environment.

On many a woman’s lust-lust is a classic leather piece, be it an always-chic biker jacket, or leather skirt. There’s something about leather that is timeless, adding an edge to even the most simple of outfits.

Once you’ve acquired your leather, it’s important to make it last and care for it correctly – you’ve no doubt got a sister or daughter who’s already eyeing it off for a rare hand-me-down!

Take these top tips for caring and storing your leather pieces;

- The best way to store a leather jacket is by hanging it on a wide, padded hanger. If covering, avoid plastic bags and use cloth bags instead as leather needs to breathe.

- If your leather garment gets wet, hang it to dry, away from direct sources of heat and definitely don’t pull out the hairdryer! The heat can cause leather to shrink or distort its shape.

- Spill something on your gorgeous leather skirt? Gently dab the area to absorb as much of the moisture as possible. But do not rub – we repeat don’t rub! If you abrade the skin there’s no coming back. A leather specialist can assist in removing some of the more stubborn marks.

- Invest in a great leather conditioner to condition and soften your leather – don’t be concerned if the colour darkens, it will return to the natural colour in a few minutes!

Tip from Jerri Jones

“Colour grain variations are characteristics of natural leathers and make each item unique. No two leathers are the same tonal changes, incidental marks and texture variations all add to the individual charm of the leather.”
