Why: Cosmetic acupuncture – needles of a different kind…

Many people don’t realise that acupuncture can be used to assist with the skin’s appearance. Through the technique of ‘Ruri face diagnois’, facial weakness points can be identified (which is where wrinkles and fine lines first appear) and then treated using acupucture techniques to reduce and slow the ageing process. Cosmetic acupuncture can help to reduce acne, scarring, pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, leading to a more youthful appearance.

With each cosmetic acupuncture treatment the skin will appear fresher, the eyes will sparkle, skintone will even out and fine lines and wrinkles will become less apparent. You will also feel re-balanced and energised after each treatment as it works to address weaknesses and imbalances in the body.

So how does the treatment work? Following the initial consult and diagnosis, acupuncture needles are placed on the body to correct the imbalalances that are causing ageing in the face. Very fine acupuncture needles are then inserted into the appropriate areas of the face using a special technique designed to maximise results. The needles remain in place for twenty minutes before rose hip oil is massaged into the face.

The best thing about cosmetic acupuncture is that clients notice a difference after the first treatment; skin appears brighter and uplifted but the real results take place four to six weeks after the body’s natural cell renewal process takes place and new skin cells come through. My recommended treatment plan is once a week for ten to fifteen weeks. After that, maintenance treatments are recommended once every six to eight weeks.

From experience, the optimal age to commence cosmetic acupuncture is in the late twenties and early thirties when the first signs of ageing appear. The skin’s natural renewal process declines after the age of 28 so the earlier one starts, the better the results will be!
